Breeding Guide for Pokesplash! Whether you are adjusting from an old way of breeding or learning to breed for the first time, this guide should give you all the information you need to know to get started!  Breeding & Hatching ProcessBreeding uses a Day Care Block First things first, what's a Day Care block? This is what you use to breed Pokemon to get an Egg. There are a total of 3 boxes available but you start with only one as default. You unlock the other two in two ways. The first way is through defeating the 8 gyms (normal mode), and the other is from filling out the Pokedex to 80% completion. These boxes are what you use to breed two Pokemon of opposite gender. Just put two compatible Pokemon in the Day Care and press the check mark! To find out which Pokemon are compatible, follow the link to the pixelmon wiki in Breeding Basic’s. REMEMBER!: You will need at least a third Pokemon in your party to start the breeding process. Then you should see a timer for how long it should be until your Egg is made. After the time is up click on the completed Egg and it will be added to your party! There is one way to speed up the time of breeding, and that's by using Silver Isi Hourglasses. A Silver Isi Hourglass skips 25% of the timer.  Sadly, Copper Isi Hourglasses are useless for breeding but they can be placed as a cool decoration! To hatch an Egg all you need to do is move with the Pokemon in your party. After you have moved a long enough distance your Egg will hatch! (/eggsteps, will give you a good indicator to how long it will be)  If you have a Pokemon with the ability Magma Armor, Flame Body, or Steam Engine, it will half the distance you will have to go to hatch the Egg. Some easily obtainable Pokemon with these abilities are… Magmar - Desert Biomes - Day Rolycoly - Mountains/Alps - Any Time Fletchinder (evolve Fletchling) - Birches & Taigas - Day Litwick - Dark/Roofed Forest - Night   Breeding Basics  To breed two Pokemon together, there are two requirements that have to be met. They have to be the opposite gender and also have to be in the same Egg Group. Each Pokemon is in an Egg Group, or sometimes two! If you match two Pokemon of different genders and they belong in the same Egg Group they will be compatible to breed.  Link to Egg Groups The only Pokemon that cannot breed belong in the Undiscovered Egg Group. This Egg Group is reserved for Baby Pokemon, Mythicals, Legendaries and Ultra Beasts. (Nidorina, Nidoqueen and Unown are also included) Ditto can breed with any Pokemon (except Pokemon in the Undiscovered Egg Group) including ones with or without genders.  This is useful for genderless Pokemon, like Beldum, that can be bred but only by using a Ditto as its breeding partner. However, the resulting Egg will never be a Ditto as it will always result in the Pokemon it is breeding with. If a Ditto breeds with another Ditto, the resulting Egg will be a random species of Pokemon. It is possible for Pokemon not normally found inside Eggs to be inside of this Egg, such as evolved Pokemon, but Legendary Pokemon cannot hatch out of these Eggs. Some baby Pokemon will not naturally be bred upon breeding their evolved forms, but the evolution above them will be bred instead. Incenses are used in this case for the baby Pokemon to be bred. Chansey, Blissey > Happiny: Luck Incense           Wobbuffet > Wynaut: Lax Incense   Roselia, Roserade > Budew: Rose Incense          Marill, Azumarill: Sea Incense   Chimecho > Chingling: Pure Incense                    Sudowoodo  > Bonsly: Rock Incense    Mr. Mime > Mime Jr.: Odd Incense                        Snorlax > Munchlax: Full Incense    Mantine > Mantyke:Wave Incense                        IV’s and Abilities IV’s  Now for the section that is making you consider breeding, IV’s and Natures! If you want to be that cool trainer that wants to breed 5 IV HA (Hidden Ability) Pokemon, it takes a lot of time and trial and error. But to get you on the right track here are the basics: Three random IV’s in total get passed down from the parent Pokemon. The IV’s between the parents do not overlap. The remaining three IV’s are then randomized.  Held Items can influence the IV’s that the parents pass down and you can find them listed below. Destiny Knot (aka Dknots): If held by either parent, five IVs will be passed from the parents to the offspring instead of three. Power Items: If held by a parent, the offspring will always inherit the IV from that parent that corresponds to the power item. If the two parents are each holding a different power item, both of them will pass down their corresponding IVs. If both parents are holding the same type of power item, either one of them will be randomly chosen to pass on the corresponding IV. Power Weight: HP                      Power Bracer: Attack                 Power Belt: Defense Power Lens: Special Attack       Power Band: Special Defense   Power Anklet: Speed So if you had the two parent Pokemon with 1 full IV each, the baby Pokemon has a chance to receive the 2 IVs. But with the appropriate held item, it is guaranteed. The more IV’s you are trying to pass down the more complicated the process becomes, but with enough practice you’ll get the hang of it! Everstones are another helpful item that have nothing to do with IV’s, they instead pass down Natures and Regional Forms of the parent holding the item to the child. (They also stop a Pokemon evolving if they are holding it.) It is important to note that Regional Forms of a Pokemon have the same name as its base form so that the Everstone can work.  For example, breeding an ordinary Linoone and a Galarian Linnoneholding an Everstone together will produce a Galarian Zigzagoon.  But if you were breeding an ordinary Linoone and an Obstagoon, holding an Everstone, it would not work and an ordinary Zigzagoon would be produced.  This is because Obstagoon is a whole new pokemon and not a regional variant anymore.  Currently, Destiny Knots and Everstones are only obtained in a couple of ways as they are very powerful items. They each have their own separate quests which you can complete to gain one each. (These quests cannot be repeated) The other way is that they are very rare rewards from 5* raid dens. (If you're interested in breeding, I suggest you keep the ones you get from quests cause they might be hard to find again.) Abilities The female pokemon has an 80% chance of passing down her ability to the baby pokemon. If it's a hidden ability, it has a 60% chance to be passed down. The male's ability has no bearing on the inherited ability if a female is present. If a male pokemon breeds with a Ditto, the male pokemon's ability has a 60% chance of being passed on. This applies to normal abilities as well as hidden abilities. Ditto's ability does not affect this chance. If the ability is not passed to the baby, the child randomly gains one of the base abilities (but never the hidden ability).   IMPORTANT!!: If a pokemon has had its IV’s, Nature or Abilities changed in the Pokebuilder rather than through breeding, it will be Permanently Unbreedable. Nothing can be done to change this, so make sure you want to Pokebuild a pokemon before you do it. Server Breeding Changes On Pokesplash, we have changed some of the requirements of breeding to make it more enjoyable and to help keep the server thriving! We have disabled the item requirements that you would normally have to put into the daycare for Pokemon to breed. As well as making the process of breeding more enjoyable, it also saves you chests full of items just for breeding that you had to grind for! Another change is that you can only breed Pokemon with your trainer tag (OT) that you had caught/bred yourself. Meaning, you cannot get a Pokemon from another player that they had caught/bred and breed it yourself in the Day Care.  There is one way around this in the Buying/Selling section.  Breeding and Buying/Selling  Any Pokemon sold in the GTS is automatically made unbreedable by default. This is due to the OT rule, and if you buy a Pokemon from another player it will have their OT. Any unbreedable Pokemon will have a tax for the seller of 5%. (Tax is to try and keep the economy at a healthy level on the server to try and keep its longevity and so that the market doesn’t get saturated making it a lot more fun to play in the short and long term!) However, the original owner does have the option to make a Pokemon breedable for buyers. This will give permission to the new owner of the Pokemon to breed it! If the Pokemon gets sold again as breedable, the permission will transfer over to the next buyer and the previous one cannot breed it anymore.  As breedable Pokemon are a lot more useful for HA’s and IV’s etc, the price will be doubled when sold. Where there is an increase in price there is also an increase in tax, this goes up to 25% for the seller.  And That's It! Thanks for reading!
